Approach

KAGISO-COWI provides the consultancy services in close collaboration with client staff and frequently in the form of technical assistance during implementation of projects. To aid the development process project-related training is provided to client staff in all aspects of the process of planning, implementation, operation and maintenance.

Central to our approach is the emphasis on self-reliance, and community or constituency partnerships, which includes training of trainers to establish adequate local technical and institutional capacity. This is done through optimal use of local training institutions and capabilities, and on-the-job training. In addition, KAGISO-COWI is committed to the development of skills locally through the transference of skills and technology in South Africa.

KAGISO-COWI subscribes to the believe, that any development needs to build on and incorporate the views and wishes of Interested and Affected Parties, for it to become sustainable. A participatory approach is therefore a cornerstone in our development work and applied to any activity of KAGISO-COWI.
